Cigarette Case

This beautiful black & white cigarette case was manufactured by Marcovitch in England and contains 20 black & white cigars. Marcovitch were founded in 1867 and were based in Air St. off Regent St., London. Became a branch of the United Kingdom Tobacco Co, Ltd in 1929 and was taken over by Godfrey Philips in 1931. Over 100 years, Mr. Marcovitch was making cigarettes for smokers. Today, there remains no surer guarantee of quality in a cigarette than the name Marcovitch on it.

This is a vintage Lloyd’s Old Holborn Blended Virginia cigarette tin manufactured by Richard Lloyd & Sons London. Old Holborn is a brand of hand rolling tobacco produced by Richard Lloyd & Sons ( a subsidiary of Gallaher Group which itself is a subsidiary of Japan Tobacco). The trademark is a depiction of Staple Inn in Holborn, London. It is available in four varieties, a dark virginia tobacco with blue packaging, a lighter form which comes with yello packaging, a lighter form from the previous which comes with white packaging, and an aromatic tobacco with orange packaging.

Egyptian Blend Brand No. 16 Abdulla Grand was manufactured by Abdulla & Company Ltd, and was founded in London in 1902. They were most famous for their eponymous cigarette brand which they made in various blends (Egyptian, Virginian, and Turkish). Around 1927, Abdulla & Company was purchased by a larger competitor, Godfrey Phillips, which kept the company name and brands going. In 1968, Godfrey Phillips UK was purchased by Philip Morris International.

This is a vintage Turmac 1920’s Turkish Greek Brun Cigarette Tobacco Tin Marque Der - Ges Gerch containing 100 cigarettes. Turmac cigarettes are produced in Belgium and Switzerland, king size (85mm) and short size (70mm). These cigarettes comes in 50 or 100 in a pack, hard and wide flat hard box.

This is a vintage Turmac Turkish Macedonian Tobacco Company Rare cigarette tin with paper label Constantinople Cavalla containing 25 cigarettes.

This vintage classic W. & F Faulkner, Tom Long 1930’s tobacco tin oozes with history and richness of the times gone by. Made in London, S.E. (South East), this rusty tin measures approximately around 4 x 3 inches with inscription on the front that reads “and assuredly this is a grand old rich tobacco”. W&F Faulkner launched the first sale of Tom Long tobacco from a little coffee stall, under the arches in Blackfriars Road, London. Tom Long’s coffee stall, was becoming very popular and in demand. A director ordered up tea from Tom Long’s stall and remarked that he wanted to use the name Tom Long on tobacco tins. It became one of the most used tobacco ever sold. Tom did not get a Royalty for the use of his name, bybut W&F Faulker, later became part of the Imperial Tobacco Company.

This vintage Rum & Butter (Flavoured) Toffee Tin was Made in England by Riley Brothers Halifax Limited. Rileys Toffee Rolls were launched in 1907 and made by Riley Brothers, Halifax Limited from a recipe given to them by their mother. The brothers were Fred and J.H. Riley. They were manufactured at their Hopwood Lane Factory in Halifax, West Yorkshire, which is now a McVitie’s site. In 1953, due to the death of J.H. Riley, the surviving brother sold the company to Nuttalls and after a number of corporate purchases, the company ended up in control of Kraft PLC.

This vintage golden cigarette case was manufactured by W.D. & H.O. Wills in England. W.D. & H.O. Wills was a British tobacco importer and cigarette manufacturer formed in Bristol, England. It was one of the founding companies of Imperial Tobacco. The company was founded in 1786 and went by various names before 1830 when it became W.D. & H.O. Wills. Tobacco was processed and sold under several brand names, some of which were still used by Imperial Tobacco until the second half of the 20th century. The company pioneered the use of cigarette cards within their packaging. Many of the buildings in Bristol and other cities around the United Kingdom still exist with several being converted to residential use.

This is a wonderful collector piece, very old, as such the tin is rusty and worn in places. The tin dates to 1937 at the time of the coronation of King George and was made by E.I. & Co. Ltd, Shipley Yorks. The pictures in front is still fairly good, with few scratches and surface wear that you would expect from an old used tin. The pictures depict King George, the Queen Elizabeth, and princesses Elizabeth and Margaret.

The overseas rights to the brand, excluding the United Kingdom, were acquired by British American Tobacco in 1925. It was sold widely throughout the world, including Belgium, Brazil, China, HongKong, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mauritius, Philippines, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Uganda, United Kingdom and the United States. Today, the brand is still very popular in Asia especially in the Greater Chian area. Some resources suggest, it is the most well-known and popular foreign brand in China.

Craven “A” is a brand of cigarette manufactured in Canada, Jamaica, Vietnam, and North Korea. The cigarette exhibit the English-Style flavor of a virginia-tobacco dominant blend, with the plant’s attendant nutty sweetness. The cigarette was named after the third Earl of Craven in 1960. Craven A were a favourite cigarette during World War II. In Vietnam, Craven A is one of the most popular brands, especially in the Southern Part of the country.

This vintage container was made in England by John Player and contains 50 Filters. John Player & Sons, known simply as “Player’s”, was a tobacco and cigarette manufacturer based in Nottingham, England. Established by William Wright in 1820 and was purchased by John Player in 1877. Today, it is part of the imperial Tobacco Group.

This is a vintage Gallaher’s metal tin containing Rich Dark Honeydew manufactured by Gallaher LTD, made in England, and weighs 2 0z when packed. Gallaher Group is a major United Kingdom-based multinational tobacco company. The business was originally founded in 1857 by Tom Gallaher in Derry, Ireland. By 1896, he had opened the largest tobacco factory in the world in Belfast. The business was incorporated on 28 March 1896 to “carry on in all their branches the business of tobacco, cigar, cigarettes and snuff manufacture”. It was traded on the London Stock Exchange and was a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index prior to its April 2007 acquisition by Japan Tobacco.

Player’s vintage metal container “No Name” Tobacco The Imperial Tobacco Co. of Great Britain and Ireland . This tobacco was originally blended and manufactured from an old recipe for the sole use of a director of The Imperial Tobacco Co. It has, of late years circulated amongst a large number of discriminating smokers. “No Name” or “Publicity” was given by us to this tobacco, but a demand was created entirely by the recommendations of its devotees who themselves have styled it Player’s “No Name” tobacco. Imperial Tobacco is a British multinational tobacco company headquartered in Bristol and is considered as the fourth-largest international cigarette company.

In the UK, they are registered in Old Bond Street, in London and are manufactured in Lisnafillan, Ballymena, Northern Ireland. They are predominantly made from Virginia Tobacco. It was founded in London by Richard Benson and William Hedges in 1873. Benson and Hedges in UK was acquired by Gallaher Group in 1955.
